Blue Earth Community Pool
For nearly 70 years, the Blue Earth Community Pool has been a summertime staple for local families. While the current aquatic center opened in June 2009, Blue Earth's original pool was built in 1957-58 and featured the iconic egg-shaped design, diving boards, a metal slide with a separate baby pool.
"When we built this pool, toured other facilities and looked at what worked and what didn't," said Pool Manager Michelle. The result was a modern aquatic center designed to be safe, accessible, and enjoyable for swimmers of all ages.
The 2009 grand opening was a memorable community celebration, complete with a synchronized swimming performance by local residents, including mayor Rob Hammond, and even a historical swimsuit fashion show.
Today, the pool offers everything from open swim and lessons to water slides, spray features, and a full concession stand. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of 23 lifeguards helps keep visitors safe throughout the summer.
Michelle says the pool is much more than a place to cool off. "Whether it's lessons, lap swim, or families spending the day together, the pool is a place where people come together and make memories."
From its beginnings in the late 1950s to the modern facility residents enjoy today, the Blue Earth Community Pool continues to be an important part of summer in Blue Earth.
