Come enjoy the relaxed local shopping, the exciting entertainment options, and the beautiful scenery. With a fitness center, senior center, ice rink, municipal pool, municipal liquor store, and ample parks and trails, Blue Earth has something for everyone! Not to mention these awesome facts about the City of Blue Earth…

The birthplace of the ice cream sandwich. Only one word necessary: yum!

The center of America’s longest highway, Interstate 90. Literally, the center. The east and west paving crews met in Blue Earth in September 1978. Check out the historic marker at the Blue Earth rest area off the highway, near the site of the Golden Stripe.

The site of Minnesota’s first stained-glass window. The window is still housed in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (at the corner of Moore and Eighth Street), which was built in 1872.

The seat of Faribault County. Plus, the historic Blue Earth courthouse was completed in 1892 and has been named to the National Registry of Historical Sites.

The home of the world’s largest statue of the Jolly Green Giant. Standing in at 55.5 feet tall, this jovial statue overlooks some of America’s richest farmland. A staircase up the base allows visitors to get their picture taken with the giant. Blue Earth is also home to the annual “Giant Days” each summer!
