Update on the newly seal-coated streets: The loose rock will remain on the streets for a few weeks to give the oil time to penetrate the existing road and a chance to create a strong bind with the chip rocks making a solid surface. The Public Works Department will begin using the street sweeper to pick up the excess rock after Labor Day with the process taking a few weeks. The public is encouraged to drive on the streets that were seal-coated because the additional traffic combined with warm temperatures will force the rock into the asphalt surface.
